59th Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival August 13-16, 2020

THE SHOW MUST GO ON...LINE

PFS Presents Luke Winslow King-12/6 at 7pm

KEEP THAT FESTIVAL FEELING GOING ALL YEAR LONG WITH THE PHILADELPHIA FOLKSONG SOCIETY DIGITAL CONCERT VENUE!

Okay Fest Family! We’ve heard you LOUD AND CLEAR! You don’t love having the Digital Concert Venue on Facebook, but you did love the digital Festival… SO LET’S MOVE THE DIGITAL CONCERT VENUE TO OUR DIGITAL FESTIVAL PLATFORM. PLEASE JOIN US IN ENJOYING A SLIDE GUITAR LEGEND: LUKE WINSLOW KING!

Due to the constantly changing reality surrounding the global health crisis of COVID-19, the FIRST priority of the Society is the health and well-being of our community. Following the wild success of its first livestream with Mari Black on March 13, 2020, the Society has worked to to keep the music playing, lift spirits, and make sure the artists in our extended Folk Family can continue to live day to day. We all know music is a universal language and we will be utilizing it as we present artists local, regional, and international – old favorites and new discoveries – to a digital audience of music lovers from the comfort of their own homes!

PFS is excited to bring you a slide guitar legend! With their tours cancelled and tens of thousands of dollars lost, this is the time to support the musicians we love and #KeepTheMusicPlaying

ALL CONCERTS WILL START PROMPTLY AT THEIR START TIME WITH AN INTRO FROM PFS AND THE ARTIST WILL BEGIN AT FIVE PAST. IF YOU ARE LATE OR MISS THE CONCERT, DO NOT FRET AS IT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW ON DEMAND FOLLOWING THE EVENT!

About Luke Winslow King:
The NY Times proclaims singer, songwriter, and guitarist Luke Winslow-King “seamlessly melds Delta blues, gospel, and jazz themes…that speak to his personal and artistic evolution.” His new album ‘If These Walls Could Talk’ showcases an evolution of his sound that is both bright and reverent and features an all-star cast of blues, roots, and world music greats, including Roberto Luti (Playing For Change), Chris Davis (King James and the Special Men), and Charles Hodges (Al Green), produced by Dominic Davis (Jack White). He brings an eclectic mix that combines Mississippi delta blues, folk, traditional jazz & roots rock & roll. His alchemical songs blend contemporary ideas with styles from bygone eras producing a sound that is rustic & urbane, elegant & entirely his own. Winslow-King just finished cutting his seventh full length record, scheduled to be released in Spring 2021. In addition to recording seven studio records in the last decade, he has toured extensively in North America and Europe, sharing the stage with Taj Mahal, Jack White, Little Freddie King, Rosanne Cash, and Pokey LaFarge. He has appeared on notable stages such as Austin City Limits, Jazz Fest, Azkena Rock Festival (Spain), Tønder Festival Paradiso (Netherlands), Maverick Festival (UK), and countless more. (Luke Winslow-King’s band) is one of the most professional, staunchly original, and true-to-their-core bands working today. –American Songwriter
