Come experience a unique showcase of incredible songs, storytelling, collaboration and community. Avi Wisnia & Aaron Nathans host a monthly concert in the round where 4 talented songwriters take turns performing an eclectic variety of songs. The artists reveal the stories behind their songs, while also speaking to the unique perspective that comes with having strong connections to the Philadelphia music scene.
The Artists:
Adam Monaco – makes songs for the human spirit. His music is lush and colorfully melodic. Lyrically, his work is personal, deep, sometimes funny, and often evocative. Adam’s performance resonates so authentically with listeners that it’s not unusual to find a handful of people in tears before Adam lifts the audience back up with some friendly commentary or well-placed comedic relief.
Chana Rothman – is a Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter. She has traveled and performed internationally from Berlin to Cape Town to Tel Aviv. Chana plays guitar and has recently been composing on the ukulele, often commissioned to write songs for young people. Her most recent song, Grow, can be heard at Jewish summer camps across North America. Currently she enjoys engaging in local projects, having recently completed RealWomenRealSongs Season 3, a song-a-week community songwriting challenge spanning a year.
Valentina Sounds – (Valentina Raffaelli) is an Italian born/Philadelphia based singer-songwriter, voice coach, music director. Valentina’s music is a fusion of catchy melodies and pop tunes perfectly blended with jazz vocals and a love for composition. She delivers her lyric-driven songs with energy, humor and feeling. She will draw you in with her powerful vocals and a compelling stage presence. Her debut album “Bring on the Fire” was featured in local and national publications including American Songwriter Magazine, Americana Highways and Magnet Magazine, and is available on all online platforms.
Avi Wisnia – is an award-winning singer/songwriter, finding inspiration in 1950’s west-coast jazz, acoustic American folk, Brazilian bossa nova, and contemporary piano pop. Avi’s clever lyrics give a knowing nod to his contemporaries, while his smooth vocals and deft piano skills assure you that this is truly something new. He tours in support of his newest studio album, “Catching Leaves,” performing in prestigious venues around the world – from the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC to The Kennedy Center in DC to concert tours in Japan, Poland, and Brazil. His single “Sky Blue Sky” was recorded via satellite between Philadelphia and Brazil, winning recognition from the Philadelphia Songwriters Project and Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. In addition to being a performing songwriter, he has given a TED Talk and performed with The Moth storytellers and organizes the Philly Songwriters Circle.
