Families and Children

Looking for a way to entertain the kids this summer? Bring them to Fest!

The Philadelphia Folk Festival, presenting music, camping, crafts, food, and cultural activities over the weekend of August 15-17, 2025, is a family-friendly event for all ages. Children under age 12 are admitted at a minimal ticket fee and “wee folk” under age 5 are admitted at no charge. Many family-centered activities are available throughout the day at the Festival including those described below.

The Great Groove Band

Your child can perform in The Great Groove Band on the Martin Stage at the Philadelphia Folk Festival.  A three day participatory program for school-age children, The Great Groove Band makes fiddle and folk music accessible to young people who sing or play a (mostly) stringed instrument.

Dulcimer Grove

Dulcimer Grove is a magical shaded area, where people of all ages hang up their hammocks and escape the summer sun.

There are interactive children’s performances in the Dulcimer Grove, typically including jugglers, puppeteers, aerial silk performers, singer-songwriters, and more!

Give & Take Jugglers

One group of performers featured in Dulcimer Grove are the Give & Take Jugglers. The Give & Take Jugglers are a festival fixture, entertaining children of all ages for more than 30 years. So many people have learned to juggle at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, it is impossible to keep up with the numbers. Whether you want to learn to do it yourself, or only want to watch the magic, take a break in shady Dulcimer Grove to watch them perform.
