Jackson Pines
Pine Barrens, New Jersey
Jackson Pines is a Pine Barrens based folk/singer-songwriter group who seamlessly weaves together centuries old folk songs from their home region with stories they lived on the road.
Audiences will hear a mixture of one hundred year old regional folk songs from The Pine Barrens, right alongside Jackson Pines’ original folk songs of today.
Jackson Pines are a band of best friends from the Pine Barrens who play folk music that connects the traditions of the past with the times and ways of the present. Joe and James form the core of a group that has traveled across the country, as well as England and Ireland, singing stories from the woods where they grew up, nestled between Philly and NYC. Joined now by musical comrades Cranston, Max, and James, the group has recently released “Pine Barrens Vol. 2” a recording of 8 lost folk songs from their home county of Ocean. Some discovered on a 1980s reel to reel in an archive, others found in books from the 1930s, Jackson Pines has reinvigorated an over 100 year old tradition of south Jersey folk music nearly lost to time.
