“Great songs, great lyrics, great band!” said Gene Shay about the Jersey Corn Pickers, when they appeared on the Folk Show on WXPN in 2014. Jersey Corn Pickers are a Philly area band that plays original and traditional high energy Bluegrass and Americana music in a style informed by the love of old time, folk, rock, blues, traditional country, jamgrass and all manner of roots music on skillfully played acoustic instruments with tight vocal harmonies.
Together for 14 years, the band includes Mike McLane on bass and vocals, Barry Hollander on guitar and vocals, Harry Gambrill on banjo and vocals, JC Bell on mandolin and vocals, and Larry Maltz on Dobro. With three albums out, Jersey Corn Pickers, Lessons Learned, and A Little Something they are currently recording their fourth record.
Festivals played include: the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Ossipee Valley Music Festival in Maine, Lehigh Valley Bluegrass Festival, Wilmington Winter Bluegrass Festival, Bucks County Bluegrass Festival, Camp Jam in the Pines Festival, Bucks County Bluegrass Festival—with an onstage collaboration with Grammy winning legend Peter Rowan, the IBMA Event of the Year Podunk Bluegrass Festival, OATS Bluegrass Festival, Busy Bird Bluegrass Festival, Smoked Country Jam, DC Bluegrass Festival, Travelling Man Bluegrass Festival, North Branch Bluegrass Festival, Xtreme Folk Scene, Midnight Mountain Music Show and more. With their own stations on Pandora and Spotify, and a loyal fanbase built one show at a time, the band has over 2.2k facebook followers.
