Jason Ager is a dedicated father, a passionate educator, and a hyper-literate original songwriter. Balancing a Ph.D. in German literature and his career in higher education with an ardent passion for live performance, Jason plays more than 100 shows a year in the Mid-Atlantic region, often opening for touring acts like J.D. McPherson, Brendan James, The Chatham Rabbits, Sean Rowe, Pressing Strings, Alex Cuba, Donovan Frankenreiter, and Eric Lindell to name just a few. Among Jason's most recent releases is the single "Trepanning," a song which satirizes the absurd ways we deal with stress and anxiety in a society obsessed with dime store psychology and self-help gurus, showcasing his love for storytelling and challenging conceptions of traditional songwriting themes. “Bronco Buster” examines the question of settling down for all the right reasons; Jason explores some of the darker sides of parenting in “Raising Cain”; and “Back of My Hand” reflects on finding home again, or at least attempting to.
